BIOGRAPHYMy fledgling writing career started two years ago when I decided to pick up a pen and try writing. My part time writing journey has highlighted some important discoveries for me. The first discovery was that I had a voice, something to say, and the ability to say it. I had found an outlet for the voice, which had been my lifelong companion. I began to understand that I had been composing words and stories and dialogue in my head all my life. My second discovery, which came as a relief in the form of affirmation, was that others wanted to read my work. After having several humour pieces and book reviews published in local newspapers, I now feel comfortable enough to call myself a writer. I class myself as a small "w" writer and have little aspirations to write an entire novel or some great tome of literary significance and depth. I like writing short and sassy pieces that are humorous. Since reading books written by Erma Bombeck as a teen I fell in love with the wacky way she wrote about her experiences in suburbia during the Seventies, and phrases such as "Burping the suckerware", still make me smile. Feel free to read the sample pieces I've included in my web pages. I'll apologize in advance to any heavyweight literary types whose sensibilities are offended by my works in progress. |
